One of the things that caught my attention when I first started working with Lil Rascals Rescue was their attention to the elderly dogs. It was so sad to hear the stories of dogs being dropped off at the rescue at ten, eleven, even twelve years old, after a lifetime with the only family they had ever known. Some of these dogs have health problems, but most have many years left. Senior dogs have a lot of love to give, and personality to boot! So the next time you’re considering adopting a dog, don’t overlook the seniors—you may very well give them the best years of their life.
